Math 4 Class Expectations - Mrs. Dunkin
Welcome to your Math 4. This class is offered after Math 3 (Course 3 of Core-Plus). I hope that I can
challenge you mathematically and help you grow in your Mathematical understanding
and communication.
Materials Needed Every DAY
 Textbook
 Folder that contains prongs = *Toolkit*
 Mechanical or #2 pencil
 Homework
(only) required
 Paper
 Investigation Notes
 Calculator: The TI -84 Silver/Plus or TI – 83 plus graphing calculator, TI-NSpire
*Toolkits will be created in class that you will want to have for reference notes on assessments*
Your Responsibilities
Be respectful towards yourself, others and equipment. Treat others with respect. Have a good attitude
and take pride in your work. Be sure to show your RED.
Food and Drink
Only water in a clear plastic container and no food is allowed in class.
Electronic Devices (Cell phones, I-Pods/Mp3 players…)
Do not use them in class. Do not let me see or hear them either. If seen, it will be confiscated.
Calculators
Integrated Math requires a graphing calculator. If you choose to play games during class on your
calculator, I reserve the right to clear the memory of your calculator and/or take your calculator during
class. If you need to rent a calculator please see me.
Attendance, Tardies and Make-Up Work (Accountability, Reliability, Responsibility)
 You are expected to be in class and prepared to learn every day. If you miss class it is your responsibility
to obtain the class notes and assignments missed that day; check your folder.
 You will have two days (excused) or 1 day (unexcused) for each day absent to make up missed work. If
the work missed is not completed within that time it will result in a zero.
 If you are not absent and missing work, you may turn it before the end of the unit with a 10% penalty.
 You must be on time! A pass is required in order to be excused. If you are more than 15 minutes late,
you will be marked absent.
 Tardy Policy: See your student handbook!! * If you are late, expect to lose homework/math mate
credit for that day.*
Hall Passes
1. You must have your id in order to leave the classroom. The hall pass must be taken whenever you
leave the classroom
2. Please ask for permission to leave the classroom
3. Please do not make it a habit, or there will be limitations placed on an individual basis
4. No hall passes will be given in the first and last 10 min of the block
5. If you are late to class, you forfeit your hall pass privileges
Homework
There will be homework every night; Check Your Understandings (CYU’s) are due the next day, On Your
Own’s (OYO’s) you have 2 days. I will provide feedback on homework, which may be revised. All
revisions must be done in a different color and boxed on the same assignment to receive credit.
**Any papers without a name, will be thrown away**
Assessments NO TOOLKITS WILL BE ALOUD ON AN ASSESSMENTS
 Lesson Quizzes will be given a few times each unit, after the end of the lesson. Toolkits may be used on
some but not all quizzes.
 Tests and Benchmark assessment will be given at the end of each unit, which is comprehensive of the
unit.
Assessment Corrections
 Corrections are only given if you did not pass (Score < 70%) and can only be corrected to a 70%.
 Corrections are only for Unit Assessments and exclude the last assessments of the quarters.
 To take advantage of the corrections, you must have all assignments in the other category for that unit.
Corrections only last for a maximum of 2 weeks.
*Any copying or cheating will result in a zero for all parties involved.*
Grading
**In order to receive points on any homework, investigation notes, classwork assignment, quiz, assessment
or semester exam you MUST show ALL of the required work. No work, no credit!**
Semester Grade:
Assessments – 85% Other (class work, notes, homework, worksheets, etc) - 15%
Grades are based on the 10% scale in the student handbook. Check Parent Bridge as it is updated
frequently. You must have a 70% or better at the end of Math 3B to move on to the next class. *I reserve
the right to change any grading procedures that I feel are necessary.*
Being Successful in Math 4:
 Students are expected to attend class, participate, and bring all class materials to each class
meeting.
 Completing homework or assignments on time.
 Students are encouraged to seek help from classmates and the instructor. It might be helpful to
set up scheduled study groups to help each other out and to stay on top of the work. If help is
needed on a regular basis, please see a counselor for a tutor.
