Scenario

Call: You are a crime scene investigator and receive a call regarding a shooting inside an office building. Upon your arrival, you meet with the patrol officers.

Incident details:

Patrol officers on the scene advise that they received a call of shots fired inside the office building. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim on the floor. Witnesses said they had heard yelling and arguing just before the shooting. A male white approximately 30 years of age was seen leaving the area.

Your first job is to do a walk-through of the scene taking notes of what you see. Second, create a crime sketch of the scene using the same skills as earlier in the semester. Third, document the scene through the use of photography making sure to get overall, medium range and close-up shots of evidence.

Next, you will transition from the crime scene to the lab and attempt to lift a print from one of the pieces of evidence left at the scene. After lifting the print, you will then attempt to compare it with known prints on file and make an identification. Make sure you complete all information on the print card.

After completing the lab portion of the assignment, you will then complete the following reports:

1. Incident report (How you received the call and what you did at the crime scene).

2. Photo log, make a photocopy of your pictures and attach.

3. Crime Scene Sketch

4. Evidence log, attach fingerprint card to this report.

5. Expert Witness Statement (Answer all questions).

All of the reports will be written in Microsoft WORD and stapled together in the above order along with the Grading rubric attached to the front.
