[[1]] 1885 *1 Friday afternoon Athenaeum Club Pall Mall Dearest Hyacinth *2 I have just been at the Board but the papers alluded to by Lord Iddesleigh *3 have not been as yet forwarded by the Treasury. It is very awkward as I should answer Lord Iddesleigh's letter & until know [I] what he has done for me I cannot express any gratitude for any thing substantial. There [[2]] was a fine eulogy of Huxley *4 & myself in yesterdays Times & some other paper that I have not seen -- Of course you have seen today[']s "Standard". Huxley is to have £300 from the Queen's Pension Fund in addition to his £1200. My hopes do not rise high at the same. I shall come down by the 1. 5 train tomorrow from Richmond.
