Academic Software Installation Request Policies The software installation request procedure provides an easy way for instructors to request that software applications be installed in the computer labs. Through this process, we can ensure that the lab is ready prior to the requested term and that integrity is maintained in academic computing environments. A. Software Installation Request Guidelines: The following software is on all student labs so does not require a request form: - The latest version of Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and Publisher. The latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader Internet Explorer Learning Center technical staff will install the software requested by an instructor when the following conditions are met: 1. Instructor has filled out the Software Installation Request Form and submits it to Sheila Money at least 4 weeks before the term needed. 2. In additional to the form, the following materials are required for the request to be acted on: a. a copy of the software (media), b. a copy of the software documentation, and c. a copy of the software license that shows on how many computers this software may be installed. 3. If the site license is not available but there is a verbal permission from the publisher, then a singed letter is needed from Department Chair or Dean stating that the publishing company allows the software to be installed without licenses required. 4. The Software Installation Request Form must be renewed every academic year by the interested instructor. 5. Evaluation software or demo version will not be accepted. B. Software Installation Request Process 1. Software installations will be completed in the order received. 2. Once the form is received, Learning Center technical staff will investigate the following: - feasibility of the software in our academic computing environment, and - software compliance. 3. When the request passes these investigations, Learning Center technical staff will complete the software installation on one workstation as the prototype and present it to the requestor for approval at least one week before the date needed. 4. Both parties (the requesting instructor and Learning Center technical staff) will sign off the agreement of the prototype configuration and the installation will be completed in the specified lab.
