TITLE: American Voices: Poet, Composer, Performer Presenters: Dr. Emily Truckenbrod with Dr. Linda Perry and Emily Ottwein Since the mid-20th century, the American art song has evolved into an important artistic genre akin to the German Lied or French Mélodie. This performative art encompasses not only musical developments but also raises awareness of American poets. This presentation will involve the performance of solo and duet art song repertoire utilizing representative American composers and poets. Along with Dr. Truckenbrod and Dr. Perry, their student Emily Ottwein (Winner of the Presser Award, Leonard Van Camp Memorial Scholarship, Marian Whitehead Award in Voice, Dr. Dorothy E.
