ENGL 190: Advanced Strategies of Rhetoric & Research (or ESL
190). NOTE: ENGL 150: Process of Composition (or ESL 150)
may be a prerequisite for ENGL 190.
0-9 HOURS: Proficiency through third course level (210) in a
single language, generally by completion of three 3 hr courses
in a single language: GK, LATN, FREN, GR, ITAL, RUSS, SPAN,
CHIN. The foreign language requirement may also be satisfied
by a minimum of one semester's study in a foreign country at a
College/University where a language other than English is
employed in courses taken. Appropriate academic credit will be
accepted in transfer. After completing 110 and 115 (6), a
Biology Major may take a course such as CSCI 120 (3), in order
to satisfy the third course requirement.

Students select two courses. The first may be chosen from any
of the 200-level English literature offerings. Students in the
English as a Second Language program may take ESL-A211.
The second course may be selected from among the 300- or
400-level English literature courses (with the exception of ENGA400-404 and ENG-A410-412) or from the upper-division
foreign language courses taught in the original language, or
from the upper-division Greek or Latin literature courses with
readings in the original language.
6 HOURS – any two 3 credit science courses: BIOL, CHEM,
CSCI, EAS, or PHYS.
3-4 HOURS: Through Pre-calculus (MATH 141) or higher level.
HIST 111: Origins of the Modern World to 1500, and HIST 112:
Origins of the Modern World 1500 to Present.
Students complete 9 hours of Core philosophy. These
include: Historical Introduction to Philosophy: Self and
Reality (PHIL 105, 3 hr); Ethics (PHIL 205, 3 hr.) A
third course (300- or 400- level, 3 hr.)
Students complete 9 hours of Theological Studies.
These include Theological Foundations (THEO 100, 3
hr), one Theological Specialties 200-level course (3 hr),
and one Theological Issues 300-level course (3 hr).
Two 3 hr courses from: Communication (CMM 100, 200, 280
ONLY). Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSDI 100 or 470
ONLY), Economics, Education (EDF 423, 470, EDI 462, and
EDSP 431 ONLY), Political Science, Psychology,
Sociology/Criminal Justice, Social Work (SWRK 100, 225, 302,
327 ONLY), or Public Policy Studies, except field service.
