aligned to the Strategic Action Plan, 2010-13 and its corresponding Key Performance Indicators

Key Strategic Planning Principles:
Several key planning principles were established to develop this strategic plan:






Support for student success throughout the continuum of their college learning experience;
Adherence to ECU Tomorrow: A Vision for Leadership and Service, 2007 and the ECU
Strategic Action Plan, 2010-13;
Support for effective leadership and professional development;
Purposeful decision-making, moving towards clearly defined goals and measurable
objectives;
A commitment to institutional effectiveness; and,
Allocation of resources to ensure attainment of established priorities.

Goal 1:
Academic program collaboration
Outcome Objective: Pursue opportunities to collaborate with academics in thematic
programs.
 Measure: Annual Review of collaboration program delivery and development
activity
Goal 2:
Business and Human Resource Planning
Outcome Objective: Improve the fundamental business planning and human resource
processes necessary to demonstrate responsible stewardship
 Measure: Policies, Procedures, and Regulations audit
Goal 3:
Responsible resource allocations
Outcome Objective: Demonstrate responsible resource allocations that supports the
Division’s priorities and strategic plan
 Measure: Budget Development and financial planning outcomes developed

Fiscal Resource Compliance
Outcome Objective: Manage fiscal resources efficiently and in compliance with regulations
 Measure: Annual Compliance Audit

Cost Framework
Outcome Objective: Establish a reasonable cost per student/per event framework
 Measure: Program expenditures review

Develop Resources
Outcome Objective: Student Affairs will develop resources through collaborations, gifts,
endowments, contracts, grants, and external support.
 Measure: Annual report of tasks and proposals in development

New Funding Sources
Outcome Objective: Student Affairs will pursue new funding sources to meet the growing
student and staffing demands.
 Measure: Departmental Audit of funding needs
Goal 8:
Professional Development Programs
Outcome Objective: Develop and/or maximize programs that support an effective and
diverse work environment
 Measure: Professional Development Needs assessment
Goal 9:
Divisional Learning Traditions and Expectations
Outcome Objective: Provide intentional activities and discussions that engage Student
Affairs educators in learning about the Division’s traditions and expectations, as well as the
full array of Divisional missions, values, and activities.
 Measure: Annual Review: On-boarding and Divisional meetings

Effective & Diverse Workforce
Outcome Objective: Maximize programs that support an effective and diverse work
environment
 Measure: 3.9.3 SACS qualified staff review of professional development

Outcome Objective: Increase collaborations across the campus community
