Goals: GOAL 1: GOAL 2: GOAL 3: GOAL 4: Advance distinguished undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for meaningful careers and graduate studies, meet the needs of North Carolina and the U.S., and achieve national prominence. Create a welcoming and inclusive work and learning environment that is able to anticipate and respond to the changing needs of college programs. Enhance knowledge creation and dissemination. Advance and promote economic development and outreach. Outcome Objective: Enhance the quality of undergraduate and graduate education, to further develop student skills in communication, ethics, and teamwork relevant to the student's degree of study. Measure: Annual unit assessment results will indicate a 10% increase by 2013 in development of student skills in communication, ethics, and teamwork Outcome Objective: Assure that the programs' curricula are relevant, meet or exceed national program standards, and meet business and industry standards and needs. Measure: Alumni surveys will be implemented in 2011-2012 to establish baseline data. Future data will be collected from the alumni surveys and compared against the baseline to ensure program curricula are relevant and current and meet industry needs and national program standards Measure: Employer surveys will be developed in 2010-11 and will be organized through the Career Development and Leadership Center College Office. A report will be given in 2011-2012 Goal 2: Create a welcoming and inclusive work and learning environment that is able to anticipate and respond to the changing needs of college programs. Outcome Objective: Increase the representation of underrepresented populations among students, faculty, and staff. Measure: Data will be collected annually from IPAR and compared against the baseline established in the 2010-11 academic year. The goal is to increase underrepresented populations by 5% across the college by 2013 Outcome Objective: Work collaboratively to provide adequate space, facilities, and support for instruction and research. Measure: Annual reviews of current instructional lab space will be conducted each June to prioritize needs for the upcoming academic year Measure: 100% of faculty with funded research will have needed college research space for the period in which they are funded College of Technology and Computer Science Strategic Plan 10/24/11 3|P a g e Institutional Planning, Assessment & Research Goal 3: Enhance knowledge creation and dissemination. Outcome Objective: Increase opportunities for students to participate in research activities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Measure: A baseline for the number of published journal articles and conference proceedings that include students will be set in 2010-11. These activities will increase by 5% by 2013 Measure: A baseline will be set for 2010-11 for students that participated in other research activities. These activities will increase by 5% by 2013 Outcome Objective: Increase scholarly activity and external funding with a specific focus on collaborative research and STEM-related initiatives. Measure: Increase the number of grant submissions by 5% by 2013 using a baseline established in 2009-2010 Measure: Increase the number of successful proposals by 10% by 2013 starting from the baseline created in 2009-2010 Goal 4: Advance and promote economic development and outreach. Outcome Objective: Engage the community by identifying and addressing regional economic development needs and challenges that can be supported by the College. Measure: Programs provided by CITE to regional industry and agency partners will increase 10% by 2013 using 2009-2010 as the benchmark Outcome Objective: Support educational excellence with effective College-level opportunities including career development services and leadership development. Measure: Baseline data will be established in 2010-2011 for use of the College Career Development and Leadership Center.
