In particular, protein structure and function, enzyme regulation and enzyme activity. Module: BI3901 Biochemistry practical Labs Duration: Semester One Contact hours: 48 hours over 12 weeks Assessed: In-course assessed Weighting: 5 ECTS Description: Practicals including buffers, spectrometry, chromatography, protein determination, enzyme purification, enzyme kinetics, binding assay, electrophoresis, western blot. Semester 2 In the second semester, either BI3130 or BI3140 can be chosen. Module: BI3130 Nucleic Acids Duration: Semester Two Contact hours: 30 hours over 6 weeks, approximately. Assessed: In-course assessed Weighting: 5 ECTS Description: This module covers metabolism and the functions of the immune cells, drug discovery approaches, including target identification and validation, computational drug design and drug metabolism.
