Processing End Job versus Termination
End Job
 Use when an employee, including a student, is leaving a position or department but
will maintain their employment with the University.
 The end job approval type is associated with the following EPAF categories.
o new hire FWS (7NHFWS)
NOTE: These employees are not
o rehire FWS (7RHFWS)
terminated when the end job is
o add job for FWS (7ADJBF)
entered through these EPAF
o new hire graduate assistant (7NHGRD)
categories. You will need to
o rehire graduate assistant (7RHGRD)
notify HRIS if they are not
o new hire PT/adjunct faculty (7NHPTF)
returning to the University at the
o rehire PT/adjunct faculty (7RHADJ)
end of their assignment.
o new hire, rehire add job for Temporary
employees.
Termination
 Use when an employee, including a student, is ending their employment with the
University. In the case of students, if you are not sure they will be returning to work
at the University, process a termination instead of an end job.
 Use when an employee who is classified as staff (employee class 30, 31, 32, 40, or
41) is moving to a non-leave accruing position (employee class 01, 02, 03, 04, 10, 20,
50, 51, 60, or 90).
To help in making the determination as to which EPAF category to choose, review
NBAJOBS to see if the employee/student has an additional assignment on campus.
1. Enter the ID number on the NBAJOBS form.
2. Enter the query date as 01/01/2005 so you will be able to see the entire job history for the
employee.
3. Search for the employee’s position number by clicking on the drop down button next to
the position field.
4. Select the “List of Employee’s Jobs” link.

You will be able to see position numbers and the start and end date of those positions. If
the employee is working in a department other than yours, you will not be able to view
the job detail information, only the list of the current and past positions for the employee.
6. Processing an end job or a termination EPAF will be determined by what is viewed on
the job inquiry screen.
 If the only active job is in your department, as in the example below,
you will process a TERMINATION EPAF in Self Service Banner.

You will be able to see position numbers and the start and end date of those positions. If
the employee is working in a department other than yours, you will not be able to view
the job detail information, only the list of the current and past positions for the employee.
 If the employee has a position with another department and there is no
end date for that assignment, as in the example below, you will process
an END JOB in Self Service Banner.

