GRADUATE ASSISTANT #1, Compliance Term: July 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017 Location: Caroline Building C110, Medical Center Department: Division of Research Administration Office of Research Integrity (Research Compliance) Contact: Bridget Turner, Director turnerbk@slu.edu Position Description: Working closely with the Manager for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Director and Systems Administrator of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), this position will provide support in various areas of research compliance, including protection of human subjects in research and proper care and use of animals in research. The position will research current federal regulations for research compliance in these areas and develop or revise policies and procedures to ensure that SLU is in compliance with those regulations. Develop training for responsible animal use and animal protocol software with the IACUC Office Prepare and update IACUC Website and Newsletter Assist revising of IACUC procedures and guidelines Assist in preparing annual reports to AAALACi, OLAW, and USDA Research literature, best practice and regulatory requirements in support of IRB policies Assist with IRB software testing, operational reports, IRB website and IRB training documents Special projects as assigned Qualifications: 1. Enrolled as full-time Graduate Student at SLU. Preferred areas of study include science, health science, social science, mathematics, computer science, or engineering 2. Proficient with computer programs, data bases and electronic systems 3. Demonstrated team and team building skills 4. Possess excellent analytical skills 5. Possess excellent communication skills Educational Benefit: The position requires 20 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate the student’s academic schedule. Each eleven-month assistantship award carries a monthly stipend consistent with University assistantship funding levels within the student’s academic unit, 18 hours of tuition scholarship during the regular academic year, 3 hours during the summer session, and health insurance. Students must register for summer coursework. This is a one-year contract, renewable up to three years. The student will become familiar with all aspects of research and research administration as they relate to research compliance.
