This application form is to be completed by current Trinity College Dublin academic staff
who wish to apply for promotion in 2016 to one of the following grades: Professor Of
(Personal Chair), Professor In, or Associate Professor. Full details relating to senior
academic promotions 2016 are contained at
https://www.tcd.ie/hr/news/local_articles/2016/senior_promotions.php.
Applicants should carefully read the Senior Academic Promotions Policy and Procedures
Document, and the Guidance Document on the criteria.
Important Notes
1.
Applications are made by completing the candidate application form and peer
reviewer forms available for downloading as word documents on the University’s
automated recruitment system - e-recruitment at https://jobs.tcd.ie/. Ensure you
choose the correct promotion call and note the relevant closing date. After
completing the application form, and obtaining the relevant signatures, you should
convert it to a PDF before submitting it to e-recruitment, along with your Peer
Reviewer Reports, prior to the closing deadline. Ensure that you fully submit the
document and carefully retain your email receipt as evidence of your submission. This
application form is in Word Docx format, there are alternate versions available of the
form in Rich Text Format (RTF) and Word 97-03, which may be more suitable for your
usage available at our web page - http://www.tcd.ie/hr/our-services/probationspromotion/promotion/#senioracademic
2.
Conflicts of interest and signatories should be considered before you submit your
application. Members of the Faculty Review Committee, the Personal Chairs SubCommittee or the Senior Promotions Committee cannot advocate for candidates, and
therefore cannot sign any form associated with your application, whether it is the Peer
Reviewer form or this application form as Head of Discipline or Head of School. A
suitable alternative must be found. The Head of School/Dean will agree an alternate
appropriate signatory for your application.
Queries in relation to the foregoing can be directed to the Secretary of the Senior
Promotions Committee at senior.promotions@tcd.ie.

Special Circumstances - The academic promotion process assesses an applicant’s merit,
relative to their opportunity to accrue that merit. Applications are welcome from staff on
part-time appointments, and those whose career paths have been interrupted or delayed
due to significant periods of leave for caring responsibilities or other breaks on equality
related grounds. Outline below any relevant information in this regard that you wish to
be considered as part of your application.

Section E - Peer Reviewers
All applications for senior promotions must be accompanied by peer reviewer reports. Peer
reviewer reports should be combined and submitted with your application as a PDF
document.
Important Notes:
1. Candidates should fill their peer reviewer names and details in the e-recruitment
system under ‘step 3 – references’. See e-recruitment at https://jobs.tcd.ie/.
2. Peer reviewers are ideally internationally recognized individuals, and can comment
on your performance in the areas listed.
3. Ensure all peer reviewer signed reports are put together in one PDF file and
uploaded as a second document in the e-recruitment system with your Candidate
Application Form. They should be saved in the following order – Research, Teaching,
Other.
4. Conflicts of interest and signatories: Note that peer reviewers cannot be members
of the Faculty Review Committee; the Personal Chairs Sub-Committee or the Senior
Promotions Committee as these Committee members cannot advocate for
candidates. A suitable alternative must be found. Queries can be raised to Secretary
of the Committee, at senior.promotions@tcd.ie. The Head of School/Dean will
agree an alternate appropriate signatory for your application where appropriate. It is
your responsibility to flag this with your referees/reviewers.
5. When appointed by Council the committee membership of the Committees
mentioned above will be available on the HR website at:
