HLTH 1000 - Wellness Passport Calendar of Events
SPRING 2016
Premier Passport Events
April
April 13: Deep Run  6:00 pm in Hendrix Theater
Deep Run is a powerful portrait of trans life in rural North Carolina. Cole Ray Davis is a young trans man who
uses his candid humor and steadfast, all-inclusive Christian beliefs to counter the bigotry he experiences daily.
An exquisitely photographed film that showcases the physical beauty of the landscape, Deep Run also maps its
economic and spiritual fissures.
April 14: Pirate Ally Training  2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in Hendrix Theatre
The Pirate Ally program is designed to complement Safe Zone training which has been offered to faculty and
staff on campus for over ten years. Just as Safe Zone’s purpose is to create a network of faculty and staff allies
who are willing to talk to students about sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression in a nonjudgmental, safe environment, Pirate Ally will encourage ECU students to help fulfill the University’s vision of
a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. The Pirate Ally training offers students the opportunity for an
engaging, educational conversation about the lives of LGBT students on campus and highlights the importance
of acceptance and understanding among their peers. Through this program, the LGBT Resource Office will
increase the visibility of allies in the Pirate Nation! Opening Remarks will be made by Scottie Montgomery,
Head Coach, East Carolina Football and Dr. Virginia Hardy, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
