Assessment Report Guidelines for AY 2015-2016 Educational Programs Annual Assessment Reports Due: • May 15 for 9-month faculty • June 15 for 12-month faculty Report Actions Taken, Results, Analysis of Results, and Actions Planned for each outcome so that an external reviewer (outside of your discipline) can understand. Undergraduate and graduate programs report only on 3 outcomes. Certificates and Stand-Alone Minors report only on 2 outcomes. Foundations Units report on each of the 3 Foundations goals. Report Components 1. Actions Taken Summarize the curricular or pedagogical actions (in the past tense) faculty took to improve student learning that are related to the Outcome during the 2015-2016 academic year. Reference last year's Action Plan and explain any modifications that were made. 2. Results Report data collected from the Means of Assessment by stating the Results in terms of the Criterion for Success. Using the drop down box in TracDat, indicate whether or not the Criterion for Success was met. 3. Analysis of Results Summarize the relationship between Actions Taken by faculty to improve student learning and the Results and provide and explanation of the relationship. o In faculty's professional judgment, did the actions taken improve, not improve or had no impact on student learning? In other words, does it appear that the Actions Taken had an impact on your Results? Why? o Were there other variables that could have impacted the Results? If so, what were they? What types of circumstances remained constant so that faculty could see the impact of the Actions Taken (i.e., delivery method, instructor, class schedule, etc.)? Report faculty's interpretation of the Results and identify any area for further improvement or reinforcement in the coming year(s) o Based on a thorough analysis of the Results what area will faculty target to improve or reinforce? Attach appropriate documents to support Results or Analysis of Results (e.g., meeting minutes, reports, etc.). If changing the Outcome or Means of Assessment, explain the reason for the change. 4. Actions Planned (future tense) Collaborate with faculty to develop an action plan to address the identified area from the Analysis of Results for improvement or reinforcement. Summarize the curricular or pedagogical steps in the action plan that faculty will take to improve or reinforce student learning for this Outcome in the upcoming year(s). If changing the Outcome or Means of Assessment, include a draft of the new item. Suggestion: For a more robust action plan consider implementing actions that impact the outcome outside of the course where it is assessed. To achieve program level improvement take actions in a series of courses or out of class experiences (e.g., internship, clinical rotation) that contribute to the learning outcome.
