“ Financial Accounting and Reporting
a global perspective ”
Jouy-en-Josas, 22nd January 2007
By Hervé Stolowy and Michel J.Lebas
Financial Accounting and Reporting, the re-titled second edition of Corporate
Financial Reporting, has become respected and widely used over the four years since
it first appeared. This updated and redesigned edition is an introduction to financial
accounting for business students who need a “user” rather than a “preparer”
perspective in accounting. Even more so now than when the book was first published,
students of financial accounting in international universities or business schools
should be taught to appreciate, understand and analyse a variety of accounting and
reporting issues from a global theoretical and generic point of view, rather than just
be provided only the “answer” prescribed in their country of study. This book
provides that modern global perspective.
Whether their career leads them towards the responsibilities of director or manager
of a business, or their position be that of an external observer, students must know
how to find their bearings in accounting and financial information and interpret the
data. They must exercise their capacities, not only within companies in their country
but on accounts published by international groups rated among the best in the world.
That’s why the work is not confined to a national approach to accounting questions. It
offers a global point of view, by basing itself mainly on the international standards
IAS/IFRS.
A French edition of Financial Accounting and Reporting has also been published with
the cooperation of a third co-author: Georges Langlois.
