the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany).
About Freie Universität
The Freie Universität Berlin was founded in 1948 as a response to the persecution of students critical of the
system at the Universität Unter den Linden (now Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) in the Soviet sector of the
divided city of Berlin. As one of nine German universities successful in the federal and state Excellence Initiative,
it takes its place as an “international network university” in the global competition among universities. It is a
young and dynamic university with 15 departments and central institutes offering over 100 programs in all
subject areas.
The Double Master in Public Policy and Management is situated at the Otto-Suhr-Institute of Political Science
(OSI) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences. As the largest institute of Political Science in Germany,
the OSI offers a wide range of courses and specializations. The student body is generally well-informed, active
and critical and the researchers always achieve high placements in rankings. The Freie Universität and the OSI
thus provide a prestigious and vibrant study environment!
