Career Services Internship Testimonial Celia Yang JCU Alumna - BA in Art History - graduated May 2012 Internship with the British School at Rome My name is Celia Yang and I worked as a Fine Arts intern under the Assistant Director of Fine Arts at the “British School at Rome” during the Fall 2011 semester. The British School at Rome is one of the many prestigious foreign institutions in Rome that promotes the study of various fields in the Humanities. The Fine Arts program at the British School at Rome (BSR) acts as a host to many artists from the UK, Australia, and other countries. As an intern under the Assistant Director of Fine Arts, you are able to experience unique opportunities usually unavailable for Art History undergraduates. Not only is communication with the residential artists essential, but interaction with scholars in different fields also takes place. The internship concentrated on publicizing and assisting in setting up the biannual exhibitions, held during May and December of each year. Press releases, contacts with museums and galleries, as well as aiding artists with research, are other tasks expected of the Fine Arts intern. One of the many benefits of interning at BSR is the privileged library access available for interns. The library is usually closed to undergraduates, but as an intern, access to the many books, documents, and research materials is available upon request and can be a valuable asset for papers and projects for JCU classes. The British School at Rome internship was for me a valuable and unique e experience that provided an intellectual stimulation not found elsewhere.
