Student Conduct Code DTF December 12, 2008 Meeting Notes Reviewed notes from 12/5 meeting. Welcomed Larry Locke to group. Wendy reported on efforts to communicate with Nancy Murray and recruit student members. Determined we will meet on 12/19 and then continue our 9-10:30 meetings as of January 9 in Library 3201A. Reviewed text for the following prohibitions: ▪ Stalking Michael consulted the following sources for best language: Talcott Broadhead, OSAP Coordinator, RCW, CALCASA, Model Stalking Code, WCASA, WCSAP. Stalking is a pattern of unwanted behavior directed at a specific person that causes alarm and/or fear. ▪ Weapons (need to revisit) Firearms and weapons are prohibited on campus. Unauthorized use, possession or storage of any explosives, dangerous chemicals, or substances is prohibited. Possession of any instrument designed to cause harm or which threatens or causes fear to others is prohibited. ▪ Smoking We will remove from Code. It is sufficiently addressed under Violation of College Policies. ▪ Public Indecency We will not include. Do not want to determine what is obscene, lewd, indecent. Behavior must rise to disruption of college functions. ▪ Responsibility for Guests A student is responsible for the conduct of guests on or in college property and at functions sponsored by the college or by any recognized college organization. Student organization responsibility for guests and entertainers should be addressed under the new Event Policy. ▪ Housing Contract Violations (need to revisit) Violation of residence hall contract is a violation.
