Student Conduct Code DTF
December 12, 2008
Meeting Notes
Reviewed notes from 12/5 meeting.
Welcomed Larry Locke to group.
Wendy reported on efforts to communicate with Nancy Murray and recruit student
members.
Determined we will meet on 12/19 and then continue our 9-10:30 meetings as of
January 9 in Library 3201A. If it is easy Wendy will try to set up PowerPoint.
Reviewed text for the following prohibitions:
▪ Stalking
Michael consulted the following sources for best language: Talcott Broadhead, OSAP
Coordinator, RCW, CALCASA, Model Stalking Code, WCASA, WCSAP.
Stalking is a pattern of unwanted behavior directed at a specific person that causes
alarm and/or fear.
▪ Weapons (need to revisit)
Firearms and weapons are prohibited on campus. Unauthorized use, possession or
storage of any explosives, dangerous chemicals, or substances is prohibited.
Possession of any instrument designed to cause harm or which threatens or causes fear
to others is prohibited.
▪ Smoking
We will remove from Code. It is sufficiently addressed under Violation of College
Policies.
▪ Public Indecency
We will not include. Do not want to determine what is obscene, lewd, indecent.
Behavior must rise to disruption of college functions.
▪ Responsibility for Guests
A student is responsible for the conduct of guests on or in college property and at
functions sponsored by the college or by any recognized college organization.
Student organization responsibility for guests and entertainers should be addressed
under the new Event Policy.
▪ Housing Contract Violations (need to revisit)
Violation of residence hall contract is a violation. Do we need this?
