Concept/Purpose: Resolution of Forces
Procedure/Explanation: This demo consists of a small car of a given mass resting on an
inclined plane. The car is prevented from rolling down the incline by a mass attached to the front
with a string and pulley. Another mass is attached to the top of the car with another string and
pulley such that the tension is perpendicular to the inclined plane. The mass pulling up on the car
effectively replaces the normal force of the plane. The plane can now be removed and the car
remains in static equilibrium in the same position as before.
