October 1999 – May 2002 Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children Behavioral Therapist Used applied behavioral analysis (ABA) techniques in home-based therapy programs to teach behavioral, language, social, and academic skills to children diagnosed with autism. GRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE July 2008 – July 2011 Doctoral Dissertation (Advisor: John Grych, Ph.D.) Passed Doctoral Qualifying Examination September, 2008 Title: Children’s Understanding of Domestic Violence Proposal Accepted: December 2008 This dissertation includes a multi-method approach to examining children’s perceived causes for DeBoard-Lucas 6 domestic violence and their beliefs about the acceptability of domestic violence. Maternal influences and children’s previous exposure to interparental aggression, parent-child aggression, and community violence are examined as predictors. Responsibilities include designing the project, communicating with recruitment sites, recruiting participants, training undergraduate assistants to conduct the protocol, entering and analyzing data, preparing dissertation manuscript. Data are collected and analyses are being completed. Defense of the dissertation was completed in 2011. August 2004 – August 2010 Research Assistant (NIMH Grant: Marital Conflict & Child Development: The Role of Schema (Advisor: John Grych, Ph.D.) Project is examining the cognitive-contextual framework and family factors that affect children’s adjustment in the context of interparental conflict.
