Conduct diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based therapy with children, adolescents, and families
presenting to outpatient and inpatient settings with a broad range of psychological concerns (adjustment
disorders, trauma, OCD). In the outpatient clinic, implement a variety of treatment modalities, including
cognitive-behavioral, trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral, and process oriented therapies; also co-lead
skills groups and deliver parenting interventions. Experiences on the inpatient unit include providing
psychological testing and consultation, leading skills groups, and implementing the Collaborative Problem
Solving Approach with children and adolescents with behavioral instability, psychosis, and risk of
harming themselves or others. Will also complete a rotation in the Pediatric Behavioral Health Service
that includes assessment and short-term treatment with children and families presenting with concerns
related to medical adherence and psychological disorders in a health care setting.

Service. As part of this rotation, responded to acute and short-term needs in a pediatric inpatient unit
through patient and family interviews, multidisciplinary collaboration, and follow up support and
management throughout patients’ hospital stays.

Implemented cognitive-behavioral and motivational enhancement therapy techniques with children and

adherence, and emotional problems comorbid with diabetes.

Worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to conduct biopsychosocial evaluations with children
diagnosed with elimination and feeding disorders. Developed collaborative treatment plans to facilitate
appropriate eating and toileting behaviors consistent with a child’s needs and abilities, implemented
behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions in in-patient and out-patient settings, and collaborated
with a team of health care professionals.

Conducted multi-modal, multi-informant ADHD evaluations of children aged 5-12, wrote integrated
reports, provided feedback, developed behavioral interventions to target functional problems, conducted

Title: Children’s Understanding of Domestic Violence
Proposal Accepted: December 2008
This dissertation includes a multi-method approach to examining children’s perceived causes for

domestic violence and their beliefs about the acceptability of domestic violence. Maternal influences and
children’s previous exposure to interparental aggression, parent-child aggression, and community
violence are examined as predictors. Responsibilities include designing the project, communicating with
recruitment sites, recruiting participants, training undergraduate assistants to conduct the protocol,
entering and analyzing data, preparing dissertation manuscript. Data are collected and analyses are being
completed. Defense of the dissertation was completed in 2011.

Research Assistant (NIMH Grant: Marital Conflict & Child Development: The Role of Schema
(Advisor: John Grych, Ph.D.)
Project is examining the cognitive-contextual framework and family factors that affect children’s
adjustment in the context of interparental conflict. Duties included: administering stimuli to and
conducting interviews with children and parents; entering and analyzing data; preparing manuscripts for

Designed and implemented a study with undergraduate students to investigate the effect of mindfulness
on the enhancement effect associated with thought suppression. Entered and analyzed data, authored
research paper, presented results at regional conference. Study was funded by an Honors Capstone
Research Grant.
