Special Education Minor Checklist

This checklist is for advising purposes only. Consult your undergraduate catalog or
official degree audit for degree requirements.



Twelve advanced hours in the minor coursework are required.
A 2.25 cumulative GPA must be maintained in all minor courses.
No grade lower than a “C” will be accepted as credit for the BGS degree.

of 2.75; Junior Classification; and admittance to teacher education *
* Students not seeking teaching certification will need to submit a prerequisite override request on the
Department of Curriculum and Instruction website for each SPED course they desire to enroll in on a persemester basis.

_____ SPED 3338 - Educating Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders
(Prerequisite or Co-requisite: SPED 2360)
_____ SPED 3390 - Assessing Students with Disabilities
_____ SPED 4340 - Evidence-Based Instructional Practices for Students with Mild
or Moderate Disabilities
(Note: SPED 4344 - Educating Students with Mild Disabilities will still be
accepted through Spring 2013)
_____ SPED 4345 - Teaching Language Arts to Students with Disabilities
(Prerequisites: SPED 2360)
_____ SPED 4374 - Classroom and Behavior Management Strategies for Students
with Disabilities
_____ SPED 4381 - Educating Students with Mental Retardation and Other Severe
Disabilities (Prerequisite or Co-requisite: SPED 2360)
