Flash Research Paper #4 – SharePoint
Investing in Microsoft SharePoint will increase revenue by $1,846,250 over the next
three years. Our 10 PMPs could achieve 1900 billable hours but are reduced to 1500 due to
document management. SharePoint, a document management system, will increase efficiency
and reduce backload, thus increasing the time PMPs spend with clients and the amount of
billable hours.
SharePoint is a set of web tools that allow companies to efficiently manage documents
through collaboration. Employees can communicate and share information with ease. Delegated
team assignments can be managed through one library where PMPs can share and collaborate on
documents. In addition, PMPs will be able to see all past and current versions of a file. Microsoft
SharePoint will reduce backload by allowing PMPs to work efficiently and spend more time with
customers.
The investment over a three-year period will cost $253,750 due to hardware and software
purchase, maintenance, administration, and support. PMPs charge $175 per hour so an increase
in billable hours from 1500 to 1900 will yield a benefit of $2,100,000 over a three-year period.
Our net benefit over the next three years will be $1,846,250 by making this investment.
