Career Week: Sept 18-22
Career Fair: GSC, Senior class, SWE hosts
Under student section of website, can volunteer
Esp need help in morning, postering, setup
Night before, need help moving boxes
Guide book distribution throughout campus the day of
Day of: ushers, movers, employer lunch ticket checkers, student check-in booth (one
outside Johnson, another on Vassar), info desk, shipping to clean up
Career Fair Banquet: 6-8pm at Cambridge Marriott: free for students!
Take some posters to put up in your dorms
Lobby 10 booth for signup
$10 deposit, and will be overbooked
National Conference: Oct 12 (Thurs ~3pm) - 14 (Sat morning) in Kansas City, MO
Will be missing last day, Sunday, but can accommodate those who want to stay
later.
Everyone will pay for their airfare, then get reimbursed.
Must become national member to go, but board gets $15/$20 subsidized, regular
members get $10/$20
GBM: This Thurs Sept 14th 7:30-8:30pm

Brownie day: Nov 4th 9-12:30
kitchen chemistry: make your own gak, dancing raisins.

Corporate Relations:
Meet the Pros dinner: late in the semester
Possible ideas from Kat: collaborations with Olin College and SWE Boston, or having a
Lockheed Martin SWE rep hold one of 7 available seminars for us (TechTalk). Many
colleges have evening with industry, or engineering balls (semiformal events w/ reps),
increase male membership (bring a boy night), members-only retreat, wine-tasting
events, cap & gown party for seniors to upgrade their membership to pro status. Raffle
for national memberships. Outreach ideas: liquid nitrogen ice cream, binary keychains,
free Agilent toolkits for kids, make ice cream, MIT tours, ask professors to come to
brownie days
MITSWE website is updated!
Outreach: Survey is going to be sent to undergrad women
Kaplan GRE info session is in the works for this fall
Submit ideas to Nupur for activities for GBM, like invite your TA
Newsletters: submit events, scholarship winners, testimonials for summer internships to
Julie!
Change mailing list to swe-career@
Let Yushan know as soon as you know the dates of your events so she can book. Supply
details like how many tables & chairs, etc.
Nupur's points:
Globalization of Women Conference in Rourke, India: week of Nov 5th
SWE will pay for $500 of airfare, and PSC will pay $500 for <= 6 people. This means
$500-800 if you go. Details of trip will be worked out by the end of the week.
