In order to exhibit in Tractor, the 4-H member must be enrolled in: Tractor A Starting Up: Getting Acquainted with Your Tractor Pub. 4-H-961 or Tractor B Tractor Operation: Gearing Up for Safety Pub. 4-H-962 or Tractor C Moving Out: Learning About Your Tractor and Farm Machinery Pub. 4-H-963 or Tractor D Learning More: Learning More About Agricultural Tractors and Equipment Pub. 4-H-964 2. See General Projects Guidelines. 3. All items in the display should be affixed to the display board. NO additional items should be included. 4. Each county may submit two entries to state fair. 5. The state tractor driving competitions may occur on a year-to-year basis. Contact the Extension office for more information. Class 01- Tractor A Exhibit a display or poster that illustrates one of the following topics: tractor safety; care and maintenance; the tractor as a valuable farm machine; or an activity listed in the project manual. Class 02 – Tractor B Exhibit a display or poster that illustrates one of the following topics: cause and prevention of rollovers, diagram how an air cleaner works, diagram & identify an engine cooling system, regulations for battery & oil disposal, or another activity listed in the 4-H project manual. Class 03 – Tractor C Exhibit a display or poster that illustrates one of the following topics: wagon and bin hazards, diagram and identify open and closed hydraulic systems, mower types and safety features conveyor types and safety features, or another activity listed in the 4-H project manual. Class 04 – Tractor D Exhibit a display or poster that illustrates one of the following topics: method of winterizing a tractor, chemical uses and required safety equipment, parts and process of internal combustion engine, procedure for cleaning and flushing tractor radiator, or another activity. Updated February 2016 TRACTOR (continued) Class 05 Tractor Innovation (Open to youth who are at least 13 years of age on September 1 of the current 4H year and are enrolled in Tractor A, B, C or D.) Demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have gained through the Tractor project. This could be related to, but not limited to, advancements in technology, enhancements to crop production, or a topic of interest to the member related to tractors or farm machinery. The exhibit may include, but is not limited to, original works, objects, demonstrations, digital presentations, programs, websites, games, apps, performances, or posters which you have made. Choose whatever method best shows what you have learned. Your exhibit should not fit in the other exhibit options for this project. You must furnish any equipment you need for your exhibit. Internet service will not be provided for the exhibit. All exhibits must include something visual, such as a printed copy of a digital presentation, which will remain on display during the exhibition. Electronic equipment will only be used during your personal judging time and will not remain on display during the exhibition. Class 06 – Tractor Driving Competition (ages 13- 18) Members are required to be enrolled and exhibit in a tractor project class (Tractor A-D) to participate in the driving competition. Entrants will complete a specified course of driving events. Class 07 - Lawn Tractor Driving Contest (ages 8-12) Members are required to be enrolled and exhibit in a tractor project class (Tractor A-D) to participate in the driving competition. Entrants will complete a specified course of driving events. Class 08 – Career Connection Career Connection is not eligible for State Fair selection 4-H members ages 10-18 may choose to participate in the Career Connections class for an additional exhibit opportunity. 4-H’ers will exhibit a completed Career Connection form for your age group (available at Extension office or online). Form should be completed based upon information gathered about a related career and an interview with someone in that specific career field. Form should be placed in a page protector or report cover. Additional materials or information may be added. 4-H’er must make an additional exhibit in the project category to participate in the Career Connection exhibit class.
