This Orientation program strives to provide a welcoming environment for new students and their families, as well as expose them to the Rochester community. During the Orientation Program, students will learn about the academic and social opportunities available to them at UR. Job Description Orientation leaders are responsible for assisting the professional Orientation Staff with the administrative, clerical, technical and programming duties for the August 2016 Orientation Program and the January 2017 Mid-Year Orientation Program. Job duties will include, but are not limited to: Plan and implement the Freshmen, Transfer Student, and Parent Orientation Programs Respond to questions about Orientation from freshmen, parents and the campus community Process all registration information Manage financial/accounting functions related to Orientation Train and supervise Orientation Volunteers Prepare mailings to students, parents and the campus community Prepare publications and Orientation program materials Coordinate meetings with other campus offices Create and maintain professional relationships with student services offices on campus and with businesses in the community Brainstorm and execute staff team building exercises Build contacts with Rochester community Assist in Summer Programming efforts, including planning and staffing of summer events. Work with incoming International Student Orientation Job Qualifications: Orientation Leader applicants: Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing Must be registered as a full time student for the Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 semesters Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 Must be comfortable in addressing large groups of people, including members of the University Administration, students, parents and faculty Must have the ability to relate well with a diverse group of people Must have energy, creativity and be flexible http://www.rochester.edu/college/orientation Must Must Must Must Must be self motivated have a sense of humor be confident in themselves and their abilities be open minded be patient Compensation/Benefits Orientation Leaders will be paid $10.50/hr for a 35 hour week for approximately 13 weeks.
