Before submitting, please read the submission agreement and all relevant policies. The submission process consists of the following steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. Before you begin, please be sure you have the following items: The submission’s title The abstract (up to 250 words) A list of keywords (10 maximum) The electronic file, or hyperlink to your file, if any Submission Agreement WySR, Wyoming Scholars Repository http://repository.uwyo.edu/ is an open access repository. We define “open” to mean that anyone is free to use, reuse, and redistribute the content within this repository for non-commercial, educational purposes only. Creative Commons-Licensed Works Posted in Wyoming Scholars Repository Authors are encouraged to choose a Creative Commons license for their works posted in the Wyoming Scholars Repository. The Creative Commons license can be found in the record and/or on the work itself. When a Creative Commons license is used then that work is governed by the terms of the selected license. Introduction The submitted item(s) under these terms will be deposited with Wyoming Scholars Repository (WySR) for archiving and distribution for non-commercial purposes, including, but not limited to, teaching, research and private study. Author(s) retain copyright for all submitted items. 2. Definitions Commercial: use for purposes that are intended to generate a profit, either directly or indirectly. Non-commercial purposes: use for purposes that do not generate a profit, either directly or indirectly. Community: University of Wyoming department, school, center, institute or group which contributes digital material to University of Wyoming Libraries’ Wyoming Scholars Repository (WySR). Submitted items: the submission of a work or object(s) in a variety of formats, including but not limited to, work consisting of paper, files or collection of computer files which contain analog or digital content (images, text, sounds, video), a digital surrogate, and/or data descriptive of the content and its analog or digital format; Federate: to bring together virtually submissions in such a way as to allow transparent searching as if they were a single database; University of Wyoming Libraries’ SelectedWorks (SW): SW is the Author’s Gallery or online personal profile that is attached to the University of Wyoming Libraries’ Wyoming Scholars Repository. SW is designed for the individual to place citations of their scholarship. When authors hold their copyright the work can be uploaded, when they do not have the permissions to display their scholarship it is permissible to link out to the work on the publisher’s website. SW is an excellent place to upload related or supporting documentation to published works and works in progress. Submitters: members of the Community authorized to submit items or work to University of Wyoming Libraries’ Wyoming Scholars Repository (WySR) either on their own behalf or as agent of another. [Note: when Submitters submit items to Wyoming Scholars Repository as the agents of another, the obligations associated with submission outlined in sections 3, 4 and 5 below fall on individual submitting the work]. Participation Participation in Wyoming Scholars Repository (WySR) requires that Communities and their members comply with: this policy and such other applicable University policies, and local, state and federal laws. 3.1 Except as provided above, or for any other use that is allowed by Fair Use (Title 17, §107 U.S.C.), you may not reproduce, republish, post, transmit or distribute any Material from this web site in any physical or digital form without the permission of the copyright owner of the Material 4. License To properly administer Wyoming Scholars Repository and preserve the contents for future use, University of Wyoming requires certain permissions from you, the author(s) or copyright owner, or person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner/author. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you still retain whatever copyrights or licenses to your work you held prior to submitting your work to this repository. You do not give up the right to submit the work to publishers or other repositories. 4.1 Submitters grant the University of Wyoming, by and through, the Wyoming Scholars Repository and University of Wyoming Libraries, a non-exclusive royalty-free right to display, reproduce, translate, store, or archive the submitted items, or to federate and incorporate them into databases containing other items, to disseminate worldwide in print and electronic format and in any medium, including but not limited to audio or video, or to remove. This agreement in no way allows the work to be used for commercial purposes. 4.2 Submitters agree that the University of Wyoming may, without changing the content, translate the submitted items to any medium or format for the purpose of preservation. 4.3 Submitters agree that the University of Wyoming, by and through, the Wyoming Scholars Repository and University of Wyoming Libraries may keep more than one copy of the submitted items for the purpose of security, back-up and preservation. 4.4 No modification of this agreement can be made unless submitted in writing and signed by both parties. 4.5 For theses, dissertations, or other previously unpublished scholarly or creative works, the right to download or print any portion of this material is granted by the copyright owner only for personal or educational use. The author/creator still retains all copyrights or license to the work that he/she held prior to the submission. Any editing, reproduction or other use of this material by any means requires the express written permission of the copyright owner. Submitters’ obligations 5.1 Submitters warrant that the necessary copyright assurances have been obtained from the creators of submitted items; either, that the submitted items are the Submitter’s original work, and that the Submitter has the authority to grant the rights contained in this agreement, and that the submitted items do not infringe anyone’s copyright; or, if the submitted items do contain material to which the Submitter does not hold copyright, that the Submitter has obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright holder to grant the University of Wyoming the rights required by this agreement, and that such third party-owned material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text or content of the submitted items. 5.2 If the submitted items are based upon work that has been sponsored or supported by an agency or organization other than University of Wyoming Libraries, the Submitter warrants that uploading these materials to this repository does not violate that agency or organization agreement. 5.3 Submitters warrant that the submitted items contain no libelous or other unlawful matter and makes no improper invasion of the privacy of any other person. 5.4 Submitters will notify Wyoming Scholars Repository within 30 days if rights to deposited items are reassigned. 5.5 Submitters bear full responsibility for any and all direct, indirect and consequential losses arising from their acts of publication. Submitter agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the University and its public employees from any and all claims arising from the Submitters posting to the Wyoming Scholars Repository. The University of Wyoming shall have no liability to any person or entity for any losses incurred as a result of submission, nor from losses sustained as a result of failure of the University of Wyoming Libraries to accept, publish or maintain a submission. 6. Wyoming Scholars Repository obligations 6.1 Wyoming Scholars Repository will: Make reasonable efforts to manage the items in perpetuity, developing them as appropriate to make them available to non-commercial users; Make reasonable efforts to comply with and inform end users of known copyright and user restrictions pertinent to the Submitter’s items; Clearly identify the name(s) of the author(s) or owner(s) of deposited items, and shall not make any alterations, other than as allowed by these terms, to those items; Obtain express written permission from Submitters or copyright holder to use the items for any commercial purpose; Wyoming Scholars Repository (WySR) College of Education Submission Instructions Submission Agreement and Policies 6.2 Any item submitted to the Wyoming Scholars Repository shall remain in the repository unless (1) removed by the University, as outlined in this agreement, or (2) the individual who submitted the work makes a request to University of Wyoming Libraries at scholcom@uwyo.edu that the item be removed. 6.3 Although due care will be taken to preserve the physical integrity of the items, Wyoming Scholars Repository shall incur no liability and is not responsible for the loss of or damage to deposited items. 7. Rights 7.1 The use of the work posted in Wyoming Scholars Repository is governed by the terms of this default agreement. The content creator may also elect to use a Creative Commons Licenses that provide more extensive use and reuse rights. Please notify University of Wyoming Libraries at scholcom@uwyo.edu. 7.2 You also agree that authorized readers of your work have the right to use the work for noncommercial, academic purposes, as defined by the “fair use” doctrine of U.S. copyright law which can be found at: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html 7.3 The University of Wyoming reserves the right to amend, change or terminate Wyoming Scholars Repository at any time, without notice. 7.4 For previously published works (journal articles, book chapters, etc.) for which the publisher retains copyright, permission has been granted (where necessary) to post this material on Wyoming Scholars Repository.
