INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESEARCH ORGANISATION Contact the research team: Main Contact: NAMED PI Email: ADDRESS Tel: PHONE NUMBER Your views about ‘X’ Tell us about your experiences and views of ‘X’… ADDRESS Contact the COMMISSIONER: Main Contact: NAMED CONTACT Email: ADDRESS Tel: PHONE NUMBER ADDRESS We are currently carrying out a study investigating ‘X’ needs, attitudes and behaviour of people in later life. As part of the research we are interviewing people about their experiences and views of ’X’. The RESEARCH ORGANISATION is conducting the research on behalf of the COMMISSIONER. This leaflet gives you more information about the study. Why do you want to interview me? Earlier this year you kindly took part in an interview as part of the ‘X’ Survey. The COMMISSIONER now wishes to learn more about the views of people over the age of ‘Y’. We are now contacting a small number of people in this age group to ask if they would like to take part in this further study. What will the interview be like? The interview would be different from the one you took part in as part of the ‘X’ Survey. We want to hear about your views in your own words so there won’t be any set questions or answers. The interview will take an hour to an hour and a half, giving you the opportunity to talk in greater depth about your views and experiences of ’X’. The interview will be recorded so that we can be sure that we correctly remember everything that you tell us. The interviewer will come to your home or somewhere else if you prefer, at a time that suits you. What sorts of things would the interview be about? The kinds of issues we would like to talk to you about are: The current role of ‘X’ in your life e.g. types of ‘X’ you use and what you use them for. Key changes to your life in the last 5 years and the impacts these have had on your ‘X’ needs and behaviour. Suggestions for improvements to ‘X’ policy. What will happen to the information I give? The information that you give will be drawn together with what other people in the study tell us in a report. Any personal information given will be confidential to the research team. Anonymity will be maintained within the report so individuals are not identifiable. If you wish, we can send you a copy of the final report. How will we arrange the interview? One of the research team may call you by telephone over the next few weeks to ask if you are willing to be interviewed. If you are, they will arrange a time that is convenient for you. Will I definitely receive a phone call? Not necessarily. We can only conduct a limited amount of interviews and aim to talk to a broad range of people. If we don’t call you, we’d like you to know we’re grateful to you for your help so far. Our responsibilities to you: We guard your privacy: your participation will be treated in strict confidence in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Your contribution will be used for research purposes only. Individuals will not be identified in the final report. We respect your wishes: participation in the study is voluntary. If you do not want to take part, just let the research team know when they contact you. We answer your questions: we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the research.
