Acceptable media includes: Performance, Video Art, Sculpture, mixed media, food art. You CANNOT use any media that you used previously in your concentration works. Due June 6-8 for presentations Contemporary Art: Happening in the Present • Artists express themselves in a variety of media, anything goes! • Modernism: logic, simplicity, and order. Always reacting to what came before, so new art movements were always occurring. Traditional subjects and media, but abstraction and performance and some photography styles were most non-traditional (the ism’s…impressionism, post impressionism, expressionism, neo-expressionism etc. ) • Post-modernism: ambguity, uncertainty, and contradiction now are valid forms of artistic expression. Although this might appear to be theater, theatrical performances present illusions of events (i.e costumes, scripts, acting as something/someone else), while performance art presents actual events as art • It was closely linked to the ideological tenets and philosophy of Conceptual Art, which insisted on ‘an art of which the material is concepts’ and on ‘an art that could not be bought and sold’; those who made performance pieces did so as a statement against the gallery system and the art establishment. HW: Work on ideas/planning for 13th concentration, beautification project 13th concentration check point Monday, beautification ideas due Monday may 16 Beautification/Volunteer/Artist in the School community project: • Painting around the door for Best Buddies (submit sketches for what should be painted by May 16th- Principal must review). • Painting the panels underneath the main office windows (submit sketches for what should be painted by May 16th- Principal must review). • Creating artwork for the stools in the library- painting or photo collaging • Touching up the art garden window painting • Painting a ceiling tile for a teacher or the library (submit sketch by May 16th for review). Project GOAL : Create a digital movie/slideshow or website of your portfolios. • Understand marketing strategies available to artists • Understand the importance of organizing finished work in an aesthetic manner • View themselves as a practicing artist • Use digital technology to develop portfolio • Use iMovie techniques such as transitions and effects • Combine image and sound for a unique portfolio experience • Find alternative methods to creating a digital portfolio by researching web-based slideshow programs. iMovie/Powerpoint criteria: *** ART DEPT WILL BE CHOSING FROM THESE FOR THE COURSE SELECTION VIDEOS FOR NEXT YEAR! • Title slide with your name • Slides for each of the following: Breadth, Concentration and Quality sections • Must add what your theme of your concentration was in title slide • Music • Transitions • End credits 75% of your final exam grade Digital portfolio and 13th concentration presentations are June 6-8 Final 25% of Exam grade comes from a written analysis/course reflection survey that will be completed in class on June 2nd. Website Criteria: Use a free website like WIX or Weebly • Design a page for your breadth, • Concentration, quality section • Add a page with your concentration statement/artist statement. • Must show professionalism! • Don’t add photos of yourself to the site. • Include a resume page (artist CV) that explains your art exhibitions and other achievements.
