Grade Expectation
Dramatics is a half-year course designed to meet the beginner’s needs in such
fundamentals of dramatic art including a brief history of drama, play structure, elementary
principles of pantomime, improvisation, voice, diction, stage craft, and dramatic criticism.
During the course, students will be introduced to key terms surrounding the history of drama as
well as more contemporary concepts involving the theatre. Students will be encouraged to
explore various acting methods and express themselves creatively over the course of the term.
This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge of dramatic
art and, at the same time, have some fun!
Classroom Rules:
 All school rules apply.
 Raise your hand if you have a question, comment, or concern.
 Keep all cell phones, electronic devices, etc. off. Failure to do so may result in
disciplinary action.
 Begin working on the Do Now as soon as you enter class.
 Copy Homework Assignment down before you leave class.
 Participate in all classroom activities.
 Act appropriately at all times.
Each day you must bring the following to class:





A pen or pencil
Notebook/Binder
Any texts with which we are working
The previous night’s homework assignment
An open mind and a positive attitude!
Grading Policy:
 Students will be graded based on their preparedness for class, overall effort, ability to
complete assignments on time, knowledge of key concepts/terms, and
growth/development over the course of the term.
 Students will be assigned various activities and projects which they will be expected to
complete in a timely fashion.
 Students will receive homework, quizzes, and tests/projects.
o Extra Help hours will be posted in the English office.
