English 101 Grade Expectations English 12 RX is a half-year course which satisfies the requirement for senior year English. During the course students will write sample college application essays, study various works of literature, and complete the senior research paper. At the end of the course, students will then begin their chosen electives (Modern Novel, Film Study, and Creative Writing). The research paper, which is a requirement for graduation, comprises a majority of the work for the course. Students will practice creating and developing a thesis statement, researching literary criticism in support of their thesis, and writing a 5-7 page paper. Completion of the paper will adequately prepare students for research assignments which may be seen in their freshman year of college.
