Digital Art is an art course that involves solving visual problems through the use of a
computer. In Digital Art we will explore many visual problems and try to create
what was impossible, possible. The programs that will be used to complete these
tasks are Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Students will be using Mac computers as
well as getting the opportunity to use the scanners and digital camera.
Supplies– Supplies will be due by the first week of classes.
1. Sketchbook or One subject notebook

3. Flash Drive 4GB - $4.99 (Required – Can be bought at Microcenter at Old
Westbury - Micro Center 4GB USB Flash Drive )

Rules and Guidelines
Classroom behavior






Be on time
No food or drinks in the lab
Maintain files and Folders on the computer
No calling out in class
Be respectful of everyone
Stay in your assigned seats until given permission
Assignments

All assignments will have a due date; there will be few exceptions to this rule.
If an assignment is late, the students will lose 5pts. every day the project is
late.

If a student requires extra help or extended time with a project, it mush be
approved by the teacher. Cutters will be ineligible.
Grading Policy
Projects: (65%) Creative solutions will lead to successful projects. In Digital Art,
assignments are given to see what new innovative ideas students can come up with.
Having a great solution to solve a visual problem is just as important.
Participation: (10%) Participation will be based on answering question,
completing projects, being prepared for class and sketchbook work such as the aim
and do now. The student will also be responsible to keep their computer desktop
organized and easily accessible.
Test and Quizzes: (15%) There will be at minimum of one test per marking period
and a final at the end of the year. Quizzes will be given out periodically according to
the projects assigned.
Homework: (10%): Homework will include but not limited to researching
reference images and designers as well as periodic handouts.
