You are a member of the
Continental Congress after the
Treaty of Paris (1783) has been
signed. You need to establish an
outline for a plan to build the new
country up economically.
Understand that taxes may be a
“necessary evil” but that was the
main cause of the Revolutionary
War.
Now that the colonies have officially
become the United States of America, design
what the money of the new country will
look like. Create a 1, 5, & 20 dollar bill. You
may choose any famous Patriotic figure on
each bill but they cannot be the same
person.
Write a letter (2 paragraph
minimum) to the King of England
that explains why he should still
consider trading with newly formed
United States even after the
Revolutionary War.
Patriot vs. Loyalist
You are on one side of the debate of
Patriot vs. Loyalist, choose one side
and convince the other side why
your side is more beneficial to the
colonial way of life (1 paragraph
minimum).
You are a newspaper writer for one of the
most popular colonial newspapers; write an
article (2 paragraph minimum) about the
end of the Revolutionary War. You may
wish to take the side of the Patriots,
Loyalists, or present both POVs.
Create a political cartoon showing
victory from Great Britain.
Write a brief (2 paragraph
minimum) proposal of who you
think would make the best leader
for the newly created United States
of America. This can be anyone but
George Washington. Be sure to
explain why you think they would
make a great leader.
Design a campaign poster for George
Washington that supports him becoming
the first President of the United States.
Now that the U. S. is independent
from Great Britain, explain why the
government of the United States
should be a democracy and how they
should go about organizing this new
government. For example, who
should be eligible to vote? How will
voting be conducted? Is there a
congress? Etc. You can write this or
draw a detailed diagram.
DIRECTIONS: You must choose 3 boxes to complete.
1. Choose a topic (Economic, Social, Political) and complete all three in the row going across.
2. Choose one column and go down the column and complete each assignment from each topic.
3. Choose any 3 assignment from the board.
4. **EXTRA CREDIT** Choose the DIAGONAL route and complete all three white boxes.
