There will be an article in the next Coastal Currents promoting it.

instead.
Siletz Health Fair-Liz:
Master Gardeners will participate again this year. The Tribe has been very generous with their
grants to Extension and YBLG. We will have MG chapter display, Healthy Gardening Tips, Safety
in Edible Gardens, Pesticide Safety and other handouts ie plant sale and mini college flyers.
ENHANCE PUBLICITY
Publicity Update-Sonja:
PSA’s have been sent out to radio stations, garden clubs and newspapers. Sonja received
only one e-mail response that was an auto response. She will send out a plant sale
reminder. For the News Guard video; it would have to be redone for the plant sale. We
need to know what information Jeremy Ruark needs in order for him to redo it. The News
Times and News Guard will be invited to the Plant Sale to take pictures. Mary Jane will
contact Jeremy Ruark for what information he needs to redo the video.
Plant Expo-Pam:
The Expo will be scaled down from past years-fewer vendors, admission by donation rather
than an entrance fee. The date is June 14th, 9:00 to 4:00. LCMGA volunteers will be
needed.
Marion County Plant Sale Book Mark-Mary Jane:
The colorful, eye-catching bookmark was passed around. It was discussed that LCMGA
may want to pursue this in the future.
SUPPORT & PROMOTE DEMO/SPONSORED GARDENS
Vinyl Banners-Mary Jane via electronic vote:
On 4-19-14 Mary Jane made a motion by e-mail that LCMGA purchase two vinyl
banners from DeLake Signs for $79.00 each. One would say “Lincoln County Master
Gardener Association”. The second would say “Lincoln County Master Gardener
Association” at the top and “SPRING PLANT SALE” in large letters across the main
portion. Mary Jane also moved that no date be on the signs so they may be used year
after year.
The motions passed with a majority electronic vote. Affirmative votes were from
Mary Jane Bonelitz, Robyn Hansen, Cathi Block, Sonja Lovas and Jill Johnson.
Tri fold Brochure-Cathi & Jill:
No new information to share. They have not had any contact from the Dixon’s. The
project will need to start from scratch to create a new brochure. Mary Jane will join the
team and contact Mark as she has frequent e-mail contact with him. Mary Jane will
also contact Jeff Olsen in regard to distributing the skills checklist data to find out if
there is anyone with graphics experience.
Newport Arbor Update –Jill & Cathi:
John White Construction has started work on the arbor.
Composting Signs-Mary Jane, & Robyn:
The hard and flash drives have crashed at DeLake Signs. There reportedly are no back up
or recovery discs etc. Two of the four signs were completed before the crash. Mary Jane
will decide whether to continue with DeLake Signs or start over with Newport Signs.
OCEANVIEW ADAPTIVE GARDEN
The Karl Carlson Grant application has been completed and requires Mary Jane’s
signature. Discussion regarding contracts is deferred until further information is available
regarding the mission and buy in from the corporation who owns Oceanlake..
SPRING GARDEN SALE UPDATE-Cathi, Jill, Jackie:
Bob Deming who has previously supplied boxes has lost his contact source for them. It
will be announced in e-mails for volunteers to bring boxes & what kind. More lavender
tags for the herb section may be needed. Cathi will contact Anna to find out if she has
enough. There will be a pre plant sale meeting on 6-22-14 at the Extension Office from
10:00 to Noon for all lead people and other members who would like to attend. Emily
will be obtaining the cash boxes for the Spring Garden Sale. All sales prior to May

for design choice-Octo Guy or Sally Sea Otter and three colors that: “Betty Orr
proceed with the creation of a new t-shirt design with the sizes purchased based on the
original purchase of the “Crabby” t-shirt. The design will be further developed by
the artist that works with the t-shirt shop. The motion passed with six electronically
voting members of the board, with one member not voting.
The winning design by majority electronic vote was Octo Guy and the color choices of
gray, light green and lavender. One hundred shirts from sizes small to 4X have been
ordered. Betty was thanked for her time and hard work. It was decided to retail the shirts
at $15.00 each based on taking an average of the total cost of the shirts-different sizes had
different costs. They will be available to volunteers on Friday 5-30-14 for purchase by
