I. Discuss and provide feedback on the course level SLO feedback form – designed for Social Sciences, revised by other programs.
The committee discussed the form used by Social Sciences, Business and Economics for reporting course-level SLO assessment. Committee members distinguished between this process and the college-wide SLO assessments for written competency, information literacy, critical thinking, etc. and that those assessments were reported to PRIE while the course-level feedback forms were for the departments and programs to use in assessing specific course-level SLOs and then used for department discussions and possible action.
The committee discussed whether departments would all use this form and determined that each program could develop its own tool but that this would be available for programs that wanted to modify it to fit their needs. Members of the committee will take the form back to their departments for consideration. Yolanda will send an electronic copy to SLOAC members.
II. Discuss and provide feedback for the SLOAC member rubric for assessing
SLOs in Program Review
The committee reviewed the rubric, made edits to it and Yolanda will email a copy to each member with final edits. This form will be used when assessing the SLO and Point of Improvement section of the program reviews. A copy will be sent to the chairs of Fine
Arts, Performing Arts, Nursing, Dental Assisting, EMT, Business Office Systems,
Business, Computer Information Systems, Real Estate, and META as those are the programs that are going through the full Program Review this year. Programs will then know how the committee will be assessing those section ns of their reviews.
III. Possible FLEX Activity for SLOs
Beth Patel brought to the committee the possibility of offering a spring flex on SLO.
Yolanda will write up a paragraph per the committee discussion and send it to Beth.
IV. Review of SLO prompts in the self study – Standards I, II, II and the essay.
It was agreed that the committee will address this at the next meeting.
V. Old or New Business
The December meeting will address the SLO prompts in the self study and the topics and presenters for the flex activity.
