4.6 Using transcripts
Once you have a transcript you can add notes to it or highlight features (see below) that will
help you in the controlled assessment. You are allowed to take your transcripts into the
controlled assessment with you.

F: it it (inaudible) the safety standards but it’s only the breakers who actually know what the
equipment is like cause they’re wearing it I mean if they’re not comfortable wearing the
equipment to do their job then they can’t do their job properly and it’s not safe to you know go
on site.

Pauses Between the brackets:
● (.) for a pause of less than half a second
● (1) for a one-second pause
● (2) for a two-second pause, etc.

It’s also useful to number the lines (usually 5, 10, 15, etc.) to make them easier to refer to.
Sentences are not usually indicated in transcripts, so no full stops or capital letters are used.
