STEM Science, Technology, Engineering, Math The US is losing its competitive advantage in math and science while the rest of the world continues to pull ahead. Our knowledge capital, which fuels innovation and economic growth, is at risk.* Two major problems are contributing to a U.S. STEM crisis: 1. Lack of student engagement in STEM subjects 2. Shortage of qualified STEM teachers US is ranked 27th out of 29 for the rate of STEM degrees awarded in developed countries** * http://www.nms.org/Education/TheSTEMCrisis.aspx **http://www.auvsifoundation.org/programandoutreach/stemstatistics Where we’re looking to go?
