Duties include: The setting up of equipment, Scheduled cleaning of the sports facilities and preparation of events e.g. facility set-up, specialist events. These duties include the operation of Genie Lift, fork-lift and floor cleaning machinery, Cash handling and lost property logging, Daily health and safety checks Daily building maintenance and fault reporting. The security and safe use of the sports centre and surroundings, including internal security of staff, customers, lock-up and alarming of the building at night. During the day ensuring that users comply with rules e.g. dress code, behaviour and use of facilities and remaining Responsible for administering first aid to staff, students, customers and contractors. Covering other duties as and when required e.g. during periods of annual leave or sickness at any sports site at The University of Nottingham. Knowledge/Skills Good knowledge of Manual handling certificate; /Training maintenance e.g. tool use and repair techniques; Good oral and written communication Skills. First aid at work certificate or willingness to be trained in first aid. Experience Other Some previous experience in a leisure facility or a nationally recognised sports related qualification. Ability to maintain good working relationships, good customer relations skills. Decision Making: Please provide examples of the nature of the role and the sorts of day-to-day decisions that will be: i) Taken independently by the role holder: Prioritising of sports hall daily cleaning and sports equipment set-up Health and safety issues ii) In collaboration with others: Prioritisation of maintenance work with regard to time management, availability, schedules and events iii) referred to the appropriate line manager (please name) by the role holder: Advance bookings (to management staff) Non-routine membership enquiries (to management staff) Health and safety issues arising from daily checks (to Supervisor) iv) Other: Please provide details of any occasional decision making that the role holder may have to take, including the frequency. Occasionally, in the absence of Sports Centre supervisors/management the decision to call out support staff e.g. plumbers, electricians, etc in the event of an emergency. Scope of the Role: Essential to the day to day running of the centre and operation of the facility for setting up sports and other events. The assistant reports to the supervisor. This involves answering the telephone and dealing with customers face to face, directing users answering membership queries etc. They therefore need to be able to converse clearly and have a good telephone manner and good customer relations skills.
