In particular, to develop interactive elearning applications using appropriate web based tools and technologies (Flash, DreamWeaver, XML, JavaScript, PHP, etc.) and multimedia production tools (such as Photoshop, Fireworks, Audacity, etc.) to meet the needs of the project, and support the strategic goals of the University. Using a range or technologies to develop appropriate solutions within a comprehensive e-learning environment. Support University staff in the development of e-learning materials. Establishing and maintaining procedures/templates/systems for e-learning content creation and the manipulation and creation of multimedia course content. Generate development time and cost efficiencies in content creation. Work with academic staff to help design and specify appropriate interactive learning elements in their materials. To project manage assigned e-learning production activities, ensuring the delivery of all required elements on time and to the required quality level. Liaising with IT staff within Information Services, in particular colleagues in the Learning Team, to advise, facilitate and advance the development of e-learning course materials within the University of Nottingham as a whole – in line with the University e-learning strategies. Contribute to budget planning and time scheduling by inputting cost and time estimates. Investigate and collaborate with other content authors/e-learning developers over the sharing of Interactive Learning objects. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Essential Desirable Qualifications/ Education Postgraduate qualification in Computing, or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/ Training Experience Other A good honours degree or equivalent. Good all round demonstrable experience in the production and deployment of web-based interactive multimedia and associated technologies, particularly HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, Flash, ActionScript, PHP. Able to demonstrate evidence of developing rich interactive e-learning solutions using one or more e-learning development tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment, supporting colleagues and sharing expertise. 5% Postgraduate qualification in elearning. Qualification in multimedia production, or equivalent. Experience of virtual learning environment technologies. Practical experience of design and development of e-learning materials. Knowledge of e-learning/distance learning methodologies. The role requires extensive and immersive experience in all aspects of the production processes of e-learning, in order to implement those production processes with academics inexperienced in developing e-learning material. The role holder is central to advising on the future direction and development of interactive elearning materials, supporting the goals of the University e-learning strategies, and furthering web-based delivery of University courses for campus and distance learners.
