Intern Position
Fall Semester 2013
Capture the Wonder Photo Contest Website
Introduction:
Keep Sedona Beautiful, Inc. (KSB) is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization committed
to protecting and sustaining the unique scenic beauty and natural environment of
the Greater Sedona area since 1972.
In order to further this mission, KSB has created a photo Contest website called
Sedona Capture the Wonder Photo Contest (SCTW) where anyone, living locally or
visiting, may submit their photos of the Sedona Area. The purpose of the contest is
to showcase the very thing KSB is committed to protect through the use of photos,
taken by people from around the world, each touching upon a unique quality of our
red rocks and junipine forest, of Oak Creek and the Verde River, of the flora and
fauna who share this home. Prizes are awarded for first through third place
winners for each 3 month contest.
The SCTW website is designed to accept donations to help pay for its maintenance
and upkeep, to pay for the prizes awarded to the winners, and as a fundraising tool
for support of the KSB initiative, the establishment of a National Scenic Area (NSA).
As a non-profit Keep Sedona Beautiful, Inc. consists almost totally of volunteers.
Though many of these volunteers are retirees who have extensive marketing
experience, the organization is in need of an intern who can effectively and
efficiently provide current marketing skills and strategies to make the contest a
success.
Goal
The purpose of this internship is to give the intern an experiential awareness of
working real time on a project which also fulfills ecological goals and values. The
intern will have “hands-on” opportunities to make decisions that will have a real
outcome. Working with experienced KSB members and volunteers, the intern will
be able to implement a variety of marketing techniques.
This opportunity will prepare the intern to implement future real-world marketing
projects particularly in the area of marketing for conservation and non-profit
organizations.
Project
The intern, in consultation with Keep Sedona Beautiful’s members and volunteers
with marketing experience and SCTW committee members, will develop and
implement marketing strategies for the Capture the Wonder Photo Contest website,

demonstrate their ability. The intern will also enjoy knowing they have helped to
protect and sustain one of the most beautiful places on earth.

KSB Board of Trustees in order to operate within KSB board policy. Marketing and
promotion of the contest will include not only web-based formats but also in-person

on the cutting edge of new marketing opportunities. This person needs to be willing
