We offer a welcome programme for students arriving in September because that’s a big intake for the University, so it’s a free residential welcome programme, it includes four-night accommodation on-campus and we can also collect students from Heathrow airport on the Tuesday at the start of the programme, if they are arriving between specific times. The programme very popular, this year (2010) we had 1,600 students who attended. It is for four days, and it’s really combination of academic session, practical session, but also social events and activities to ensure that students can meet other people before their studies start. In term of the practical things that students will cover on the programme, things like registering with the health services, opening bank accounts, doing campus tours, just to orientate themselves to Nottingham, we also do City tour, so they get and go in the city and look around there. And then the academic session, we do thing like studying in the UK, what the expectations are, how to avoid some of the problems that international student encounter, language support and things like that. So the programme is really popular and we know that students appreciated.
