NAU Green Fund Committee Member Application Form What is the NAU Green Fund? The NAU Green Fund promotes student participation in and provides funding for projects that contribute to the University’s culture of sustainability. Projects should, for example, aim to increase the amount of renewable energy used on campus, increase energy and water efficiency in campus operations, or engage and educate the student body on sustainability issues. The NAU Green Fund is supported by student fees and donations. A student-majority review committee and the Office of Sustainability are responsible for management of the fund. What is the NAU Green Fund Committee? The Green Fund Committee is primarily responsible for reviewing project applications and determining fund allocation. They are also involved in publicizing and promoting the NAU Green Fund and assessing project effectiveness. The committee consists of six student members, all of which have a role they are elected into; three faculty/staff members; and the non-voting Green Fund Manager, who is the manager of the Office of Sustainability. How do I apply? Undergraduate and Graduate students of all majors are encouraged to apply. The term of service is one academic year (maximum 2 concurrent terms), and the applicant must be enrolled at NAU for the duration of the term. Members will be required to work 3-5 hours a week and will be paid a $500 stipend at the end of the semester if all responsibilities are completed. Run Green Fund Committee meetings Manage all GreenFund@nau.edu correspondence Send out Friday agenda by the preceding Monday. Indicate what actions or readings the committee will need completed by Friday Upload all proposals to SharePoint. Move approved projects to appropriate file in SharePoint Take attendance and keep attendance sheet updated Sit on the “Green Committee” which meets quarterly with the President’s office Vice Chair The Vice Chair will assist the Chair with his or her duties. In the absence of the Chair, the Vice Chair shall assume all duties of the Chair. Work with Facility Services Employee Services to ensure all Committee members are hired and paid in a timely fashion Collect Committee bios and pictures and send final document to the Office of Sustainability for the website Set GF Workshop dates, reserve Library room 200, run Workshops Update website with all fall proposals in December. Create the annual press release in February Work with Secretary on new Committee member recruitment and hiring as needed Secretary The Secretary will take meeting minutes and upload to SharePoint by the Monday following the meeting Work with Vice Chair on new Committee member recruitment and hiring as needed Treasurer The Treasurer will help track Green Fund spending and keep in close communication with the Green Fund Manager in order to keep the Green Fund Committee informed of financial activity. Set up account for access to Enterprise Reporting (nau.edu/ITS/Services/Reporting) Regularly check Enterprise Reporting for account activity Update Master Finance List with new approved projects (encumbrances), amount actually paid, and GF Committee Expenses Upload any project receipts to appropriate folder on SharePoint Think strategically about opportunities to improve GF finances (increase GF, create/manage revolving fund, create employee contribution to GF, etc.) Public Relations Specialist The Public Relations Specialist will organize promotion and outreach for the Green Fund and will be the liaison between the Green Fund and all press. The PR Specialist will work closely with the Events Coordinator Flier campus with Green Fund posters each fall Handle all press inquiries and work to get press for approved projects Attain access to Green NAU Facebook page and create 2 to 3 posts a month Will work with the Events Coordinator to present GF to classes Events Coordinator The Events Coordinator will organize tabling at multiple campus events and reach out to classes to present the GF. The Events Coordinator will work closely with the PR Specialist Organize tabling at events such as Orientation, Welcome Week, Earth Hour, Earth Jam, and Earth Week Plan for the Undergraduate Symposium in April where all approved projects should present at. It is important to contact the Undergraduate Symposium early to request permission and to communicate to approved proposal groups the necessary steps for registering for the symposium.
