So show up (on time) and be willing to try. Showing up more than 15 min. late or leaving early, for any reason equals 3 points per event. Each absence is a loss of 9 points. After 6 absences you will be dropped 2) Paper and test: There will be tests on the reading and a paper on audition technique. You must also have a journal. 3) Project: There will be a picture and resume project. This will be discussed in class. There will also be an “on camera” project 4) Midterm: You are required to find and memorize 2 monologues to be performed in front of the class. One of classical nature and one of contemporary nature, one comic or "light" and one dramatic or "dark”. I will explain this in detail. 5) Final: You are required to find and memorize 2 more monologues to be performed in front of the class. One of classical nature and one of contemporary nature, one comic or "light" and one dramatic or "dark. The comic and dramatic monologues should be opposite qualities of your first pair. I will explain this in detail. Rule: 1) No eating or drinking in class. No exceptions. Water, of course is always allowed. Always have your syllabus in class with you. You must also have a notebook and pen in every class, and bring your book to every class. You will also be keeping a journal. Grades: Grades are based on a “1000 point” system. Attendance = 250pts. Journal =100pts Midterm = 150 pts. Quiz/Paper = 150 Pts. Projects = 150 pts. Final = 200 pts. TART 205 AUDITIONS FOR THEATRE & FILM FALL 2006 Academic Honesty: (This statement is taken directly from the LBCC Faculty Guide) “Lack of honesty in the classroom is considered a very serious offense. Any form of cheating on tests, turning in of work which is not one’s own (plagiarism), talking during tests, furnishing false information to instructors or knowingly misrepresenting one-self to the college is grounds for disciplinary action. The consequences of cheating are severe and may include the possibility of expulsion. Disciplinary action can include the following: warnings, reprimands, probation, suspensions, expulsion, restitution, and loss of financial aid.” Overview of TART 205: Auditions for Theatre and Film: This course prepares performers for the practical application of the professional audition process. Course exercises assist in developing an actors professional manner, concentration and awareness. Selection of appropriate material, accurate self-assessment, analyzing the text, presenting the material, preparation of a resume with pictures and the presentation of self for maximum effect are covered in the course. Guest lecturers may be part of the class and several simulated audition situations will aid in the students learning process. Incentive: Anyone with perfect attendance at the end of the semester will receive 5 points to assist their grade. Focus: Our goal is to develop contemporary and classic theatre audition technique, plus explore the range of varied audition styles facing the 21st century actor; from various auditions to all camera acting forms.
