Commencement 2015– Faculty and Academic Staff Robert Garcia, Mayor, City of Long Beach will be the featured speaker. Commencement will take place in Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 6:00 P.M., with faculty leaving T-1200 at 5:15 to line up at the stadium. Commencement is a very distinguished occasion at Long Beach City College. This event is made possible through your hard work and commitment to excellence. The following protocol will help ensure that graduation is the most rewarding and memorable experience possible for our graduates and guests. Academic Regalia Participants must wear traditional academic regalia. Only cordons or other insignia that represent academic achievement or academic honors may be worn on the standard attire. It gets rather cool in the stadium at that time of the day; therefore, you may want to dress a little warmer under your cap and gown. Assembly Participating faculty will gather in T-1200 at 5:00 P.M. to receive procession instructions. Faculty will then walk over to Veterans Memorial Stadium at 5:15 PM, to be lined up by 5:30P.M. on the south side of the stadium. Members of the Student Life staff will guide the two lines to line up on the stadium track to form an aisle for the students to welcome the students as they process. Processional Order 1. Faculty will lead the processional in two lines a. If individuals wish to sit together, they should be in front of or behind each other, not side by side when lining up. b. The two faculty lines will process north on the stadium track and then stop and face each other, forming an aisle 2. Student marshals lead candidates receiving Associate Degrees/Certificates between faculty lines 3. Faculty follow the last graduate candidates and take their place on stage 4. Academic Staff & Platform guests follow faculty on to stage Recessional Order 1. Platform guests lead the recessional 2. Faculty and Academic Staff 3. Student marshals 4. Graduates Family members will greet graduates at the after grad reception, on the north side of the stadium and faculty are encourage to participate in the after grad receptions. Canopies with signs will designate schools. Parking Parking for faculty will be in Parking Lot “K”, “L” or “M”. A faculty/staff parking pass is required. Campus Reception The college will be hosting a campus-wide reception for all staff, faculty, and distinguished guests from 3:30-5:00P.M., in the reception area between Human Resources and Community Relations and Marketing (T Building).
