EMPLOYMENT FORUM The Employment Forum is a gathering of representatives from the Philadelphia IDS employment provider agencies, the Supports Coordination Organizations (SCO), the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), and parent representation to promote employment and share information, ideas, and expertise. There continues to be a need to promote employment as the preferred option, especially since most adults in our culture have jobs and draw a measure of their identity from work. The Employment Forum meets every other month from 10 AM to 12 PM at various locations throughout the Philadelphia area. The Employment Forum is a way to………… network with each other work together bring and share information discuss how we can educate stakeholders focus on a Philosophy of Work share successes and brainstorm solutions discuss funding for Community Integrated Employment emphasize the future grapple with system issues share information and ideas using Internet technology Mission Statement The purpose of the Employment Forum is to promote the philosophy of work and employment for all individuals with disabilities within the Philadelphia area by exchanging information and facilitating communication between the employment forum and the community, influencing and shaping policies, and educating employers to the advantages of hiring people with disabilities.
