PROJECT SPONSOR
The EPSRC requires each successful Doctoral Prize holder be assigned a Project Sponsor who will
act as mentor and provide on-going guidance and support the transition to an independent
researcher. The Project Sponsor is not their PhD supervisor. Prior to submitting your application
you must discuss your research proposal with an academic member of staff within the School.

Annex 1
A support grant is available. Please give details of proposed resources and costs needed to
increase the impact of the PhD. (You should detail costs for consumables including materials and
equipment, conference and workshop costs, including accommodation and travel plus any costs
associated with outreach activity). Costs should comply with the university’s procurement and staff
travel policies.

1. A completed University of Nottingham EPSRC Doctoral Prize application form
2. Annex 1 detailing the proposed costs of your project
3. A detailed CV including full academic history, research and publications to date
4. Two references, one of which is from the principal PhD supervisor
5. A completed EPSRC Doctoral Prize Project Sponsor statement of support
6. A signed supporting statement from the relevant Head of School/Research Division indicating
how the research proposal would fit with the School’s strategy
