Dear (insert name):
I am pleased to offer you a tenure-track appointment as (insert rank) in the Department of (insert)
in the insert school/college. This is a tenure track appointment that will begin on insert date.
Your annual salary will be $ insert amount.
Please know that the Dean has proposed to appoint you with tenure. Because only the Temple

appointment is without tenure and for a three year term that will end on June 30, enter year.
By accepting this appointment, you agree to teach, conduct research or engage in scholarship or
creative work, and provide service, at any location within the University as specified by your
Dean. You also agree to the “General Terms and Conditions of Faculty Appointment” in
Attachment A and to the “Specific Terms and Conditions of Faculty Appointment” in
Attachment B. This letter and these two attachments comprise the entire terms and conditions of
your faculty appointment and may not be modified or altered by any oral or written statement or
representation unless such statement or representation is confirmed in writing under the
President’s or Provost’s signature.
If, as I hope, you find this offer to be satisfactory as presented, please indicate your acceptance
by signing, dating, and returning the original letter to Office of Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs,
Temple University, 350 Carnell Hall, 1801 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. 19122. An
additional copy is enclosed for your file. This offer will remain open for 20 days from the date
of this letter. If we have not received your signed acceptance by that date, we will assume that
you have not accepted this offer. If you require any additional time to consider this offer, please
contact the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at (215) 204-3745, which will confirm
any extension in writing.
