Practice Teaching
“Teachers’ training” program is designed to provide prospective
candidates for the teaching profession with hands on experience in the
daily practices of a school teacher within a school environment. In
order for individuals to become productive member of a school, they
need to have experience in the field prior to becoming professional
teacher.
The vision of our organization is to provide future teachers with the
opportunity to have experiences that can only be acquired through
hands on activities.
Training pre Requisites and Requirements:
Training procedures start after the school receives a letter from the
university where the trainees are currently studying. The letter should
include the following details:




Name of the trainee
Phone number
Major / Specially
Number of years at the university
In addition to these details, the letter has to mention the grade level
the trainee should (monitor / observe, number of sessions should be
covered per term, the focus of the observation and number of lesson’s
demonstration (explanation) in order to have a credible and valid
evaluation for the trainees.
School Expectations of Interns
-
To behave and be part of the school life as expected of any regular
teacher.

To attend school according to their pre-set schedule.
-
To apply school rules related to students’ rights and responsibilities.
-
To observe classes in order to learn all aspects of the teaching /
learning process.

To follow the school policy regarding the school dress code, for
example: No I shirts, No sandals.

To Practice professionalism at all times, for example: refrain from
discussing student’s matters in staffroom.
-
To plan lessons according to the scheme of work written by the
teacher/coordinator on format provided by the school.
-
To meet with a mentor on a weekly basis and discuss the progress of
students and other teachings matters. To attend unit meetings
conducted weekly.

To write evaluation reports at the end of the term.
-
To be active and abide by break and lunch duties.

To become involved in extra curriculum activities.

To inform the school when absent
-
To arrange for the use of audiovisual aids ahead of time.

To familiarize them with the practicum teaching experience through
the use of a handbook provided by the university.
School expectations of University Instructors and Coordinators:
-
To provide a letter contains the specific aims /purposes /class and
time to attend
-
To Abide by school rules during class observation
-
To give prior notice to the cooperating school of the day/date for
observing his/her intern. And to give prior notice of any changes.
To monitor interns’ teaching practices by holding periodical
meetings with mentors. Having visits to schools.

University expects of Mentors/ Coordinators:
-
To write an evaluation report on the TT and set targets for each
term (with weaknesses and the strengths of the TT) at the end of
each term.

To provide a safe and a positive school environment to house
interns and promote their professional growth.
-
To assign a school representative whose role is assisting in the
placement of interns and providing feedback to the Interns’
University, through direct contact with the PTC Coordinator or
method course instructors.

To provide schedule conference time before lessons are taught to
review plans, materials and assessments.
-
To give formative feedback following lessons.
-
To arrange mini- and complete classroom lessons, as required.

To include interns in as much of the life at school as possible,
including duties, bulletin boards meeting with parents, and other
teaching responsibilities.

To provide interns with opportunities to reflect on their teaching
practices at schools.
