Three years B.A. (Hons.) Six Semester Programme in Bengali
(2011-12 & onwards)
The three years B.A. (Hons.) Semester Programme in Bengali will be divided into six semesters.
There shall be 2 Core Courses (Papers) in 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th Semester and 6 Core Courses in 5th
and 6th semester each i.e., 12 Core Courses totally in 5th and 6th semesters. Each course will be
of 3 credits. Thus from 1st semester to 6th semester there will be 20 core courses in Bengali. A
student shall be required to complete all these 20 courses with in six semesters. Each course will
be of 100 marks, 70 marks for written semester end examination and 30 marks for sessional.
These 20 core courses (2 each for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th semester and 6 each for 5th and 6th semester)
will be compulsory for those students who would like to take B.A. Hons. Degree in Bengali.
Apart from this, there will be four Soft-Skill courses in Bengali, each of 3 credits. Besides this,
Bengali can also be taken as a language subject from 1st to 6th semester each of 3 credits. This
course only for those, who have not taken Bengali as a core subject.
