Primarily, digital libraries are about all kinds of services.
Some of the traditional library services are being transformed.
A number of new services are emerging. Library services will
define the future of libraries. Yet most libraries will remain
hybrid – having both an analog (brick and mortar) and digital
component.
The aim of this discussion is try to follow some of the major
paths in which libraries are transforming themselves.
Discuss the following questions (make a clear distinction
between the two questions, but discuss both):
1. What do you consider that digital libraries offer in terms
of services that traditional libraries do not?
2. What do you consider that traditional libraries offer in
terms of services that digital libraries do not?
3. What are some of the major ways services in digital
libraries are changing from services in traditional
libraries?
