Description A study of contemporary theories, concepts, and practices useful in improving organizational performance. Special attention is paid to strategic interventions and change in both private and public sector organizations, and the global business arena. Emphasis will also be placed on ways to improve the quality of worklife for employees, while enhancing organizations’ alignment with internal and external environmental conditions. Student Learning Outcomes: On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Recognize the common characteristics of open or complex systems as they relate to organization development. 2. Describe the common characteristics of organizational growth and evolution, including the entrepreneurial, professionalizing, and mature stages of growth. 3. Diagnose organizational problems at the individual, group (including team or unit), and organization levels of analysis. 4. Recommend solutions to address organizational problems or leverage opportunities by selecting from among alternative interventions, including human-process, HRM, technostructural, and strategic interventions, and mature stages of growth. 5.
